This blog looked so bare without pictures, so I decided to liven it up a bit with a shot of an empty bottle of the fantastic ‘08 Domaine Aubert de Villaine “Les Clos” Cote Chalônnaise.
Some of you might recognize Mr. de Villaine as the winemaker behind, oh you know, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which is perhaps the premier estates in Burgundy.  A bottle of newly-released Romanée-Conti will set you back at least $1500.  He has his own label under which he produces much more affordable wines: never having had Romanée-Conti, I wouldn’t be able to say that his eponymous wines are comparable, though they are an everyday luxury.
