It’s been a little while since I’ve posted on this Tumblr site.  For that I blame a few factors: law school, lack of time, and a re-aggravated back injury (yikes!).  That being said, I wanted to post very quickly here so you know what’s been going on with the DCWBC.

GRATUITOUS PICTURE OF ME POURING WINE

UPDATES

  • The in-store January 25th Deal (Wines to Cook With) was a great success.  We purchased 66 bottles for a total of $1168.91.  I especially loved the 2008 Baudry “Les Granges” Chinon.  Despite the name, I ended up drinking most of what I had purchased without food.  Oh well.

  • The online February 4th Deal (From California, With Love: Stolpman Vineyards) paid homage to a wonderful little winery and featured three of my favorite wines of theirs.  Online deals generally feature slower turnaround times and lower volume, so I was very pleased with our performance: 24 bottles for a total of $441.75.  We were able to secure club membership prices in addition to a case discount and free shipping.  I still have to get some bottles to a few people, so hang tight!

  • Together with the February 4th Deal, Jeremy from Potenza Wines offered a terrific deal on Vosges Chocolates.  They normally retail for $7.00 per bar (or more) but we were able to secure a price of $4.50 per bar.  A number of you purchased, and I will be getting those chocolates to you after Spring Break.  (This is right about when I threw out my back, so I apologize for the lateness of the delivery.)

  • The online February 28th Deal (From California, with Pinot—I really need a new tagline for California wines) featured the 2007 Bouchaine “Rockin H Vineyard” Pinot Noir.  We secured savings of 37.5% per bottle and free shipping.  I expect these wines to arrive in the next 1-2 weeks.

  • I am talking with Ansonia Wines here in DC to set up a new deal, which I am hoping will go live right after the end of Spring Break (around March 7).

I hope you guys have all enjoyed your wines.  In fact, I would like to know about what you thought of the wines and the DCWBC so far—thus:

YOUR THOUGHTS

I would like to post some user feedback on this blog so people know that we mean serious business.  If you have any input on the wines you’ve purchased or on the DCWBC in general, please send me an e-mail at dcwinebuyerscollective [at] gmail [dot] com.  It can be a short few lines on a wine you liked or hated, or it can be a story of you and a bottle and how, for instance, it might have made (or broke) your evening.  I would appreciate it!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or comments.  Thank you so much for buying through the DCWBC!
